General
G&L Realty ("GLR") is a real estate developer and investor that owns, acquires, develops, manages and leases healthcare properties. G&L was founded in 1975 and has become one of the leading Medical Office building landlords in Southern California. GLR currently consists of investments, made either directly or through joint ventures, in medical office buildings ("MOB"), assisted living facilities ("ALF") and skilled nursing facilities ("SNF"). GLR owns over 1,000,000 square feet of "class A" MOB's in California, with a high concentration of "trophy" buildings in the heart of Beverly Hills, CA, two blocks from World famous Rodeo Drive.
In 1995, G&L Realty capitalized on its expertise in the Healthcare field and entered the Senior Care industry. G&L Senior Care Properties currently owns 13 facilities across the U.S. The Company specializes in buying distressed senior care facilities and returning them to profitability without sacrificing the quality of care at the facilities. G&L accomplishes this through the replacement of the management of the facility with a top local management company and targeted capital expenditures. The Company also has extensive experience in the financing of senior care facilities, including the funding of HUD-insured mortgages.
G&L Realty was a publicly traded Healthcare REIT on the NYSE from 1993-2006.
Property Acquisitions
G&L believes that its specialized skills and expertise in the healthcare real estate business are sustainable competitive advantages. The Company seeks growth opportunities through the selective acquisition and development of medical office buildings, senior nursing facilities and assisted living facilities.
Property Management
GLR provides a full range of in-house management services for medical office buildings. The ability of the Company to meet the unique needs of medical practitioners has been critical to GLR's success. Managing medical office buildings differs from managing general office properties due to the special requirements of the tenants and their patients. Meeting the needs of medical practitioners also requires the planning and building of specialized tenant improvements required in medical environments. Additional management functions include the proper placement and mix of tenants so that referrals by practitioners with different specialties within a medical office building can be facilitated.
